Ukiyo-YAY!
I'm a big fan of Hanae Mori prints of this era in general, but I'm especially in love with this print and it's nod to Japanese Ukiyo-e prints (you've seen them before, probably most famous of them all is Hokusai's "Great Wave off Kanegawa"). Mori had fun with this pattern and offers a psychedelic twist on a traditional Japanese scene by skewing the color palette to vibrant purples and pinks!
Another positive in my book is the fact that this piece is a set, ready to be worn together (this piece looks to me like it's begging to have the shirt tucked in and belted with a giant statement belt over the top) or broken up and worn as separates. As you may know, I love the flexibility of sets.
This Hanae Mori set includes a long sleeve v-neck top and loose-fitting maxi skirt, with Mori's trademark all-over print. The top feels like a cotton poly or cotton lycra blend and has a fair amount of stretch and elasticity to it. The skirt, meanwhile is made of a gauzier, slightly sheer cotton voile fabric and has beautiful movement to it.
Both pieces have no additional closures, pull-over and step-in respectively, while the skirt has an elastic waist with a fair amount of stretch to the waistline. Check out more bulleted details below!
