Boticelli Inspired Novelty Print Skirt
Brand Embers /Cinders
Basically, I had to talk myself out of keeping this skirt. The print on it is *phenomenal* and when I pair it with tall platform shoes, concealed under that long, floor-duster skirt, it give the appearance of my being tall and svelte. In other words, this is a skirt that looks lovely on.
The skirt has an elastic banded waist with relaxed fit through the hip. The skirt flares into a full silhouette, with a large dust ruffle along the bottom. My favorite detail on the dust ruffle, is rather than just leaving it a straight across cut, they added an inverted "v" along the front, with the middle section of the dust ruffle set at a peak.
The real highlight of this skirt -- is the pattern on the fabric! Painterly, novelty print of two women in a field, one launching a bird in flight from her up-raised hand, the other, facing forward her curly tendrils reminiscent of "Venus" in Botticelli's "Birth of Venus." The scene is so utterly romantic and whimsical, and evocative of so much of what I love about the best of vintage patterns.
Skirt is unlined with no closures. Step in style with elastic waist.
